We are seeking to recruit a committed Specialty Doctor / Associate Specialist for Alvaston Ward, a low secure service for women. Alvaston Ward is a well-established and highly regarded low secure service for women with a personality disorder and complex needs. We are proud to be a Royal College of Psychiatrists recognised Enabling Environment, as well as having been finalists in the National Patient Safety Awards. We are a reflective and outward looking service, involved in research, audit, national and international presentation. We offer DBT and Schema based psychological treatments as well as an eclectic mix of other therapies which allow us to adapt to service user and commissioner led needs. The service has a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, and shared specialist knowledge and skills to support this service user group. There is a strong focus on the delivery of holistic and team based care and treatment.
You will be primarily responsible for in-patient care delivery, including 1:1 work as required. You will have good clinical knowledge and skills. You will need to be a team player, yet able to use your own initiative and be able to contribute effectively to service development. The right candidate will be given all required specialist training to ensure safe service delivery and skill enhancement.
Good communication and organisational skills are essential, as is a minimum of 18 months psychiatric experience.
Experience of locked rehabilitation or forensic desirable but not essential. You must have GMC registration and you will be supported in obtaining Section 12(2) approval if necessary and MRcPsych Exams Post Graduate experience preferable but not required.
Yearly Increment available
1 in 3 Weeks on Call included in Wages. On Call does not include out of hours admissions.
You will be supported by an established medical team, where CPD, appraisal and PDP planning processes are well embedded, rotation through the male services may be considered, subject to discussion with colleagues.
You will also have the support of a strong administration team and a quality focused senior management structure. The service is committed to continued professional development and welcomes the development of research and academic interests.
