New Dawn ward is an 18 bedded unit providing services for women with personality disorder and challenging behaviours. The ward recently achieved “Excellence when Implementing Safewards”

We welcome applications from experienced clinicians who have a special interest in working within the Recovery led settings of Bewick or the specialist DBT settings working within the principles of dialectical behaviour therapy.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in leading teams, managing change and sustaining high quality services at band 6 nurse equivalent or above. You will be a highly self-driven and motivated clinical leader who is able to lead and manage the challenges, potentials and prospects of a contemporary mental health service.

The post holder will ensure appropriate, pragmatic, evidenced based risk management support procedures are developed and routinely applied within their service without losing the fundamentals and ethos of recovery and collboration.  You will be responsible for managing clinical performance, and manage operations within the service, in accordance with Company policies and procedures.  You manage and coordinate the referral and assessments processes to maintain the service competitive edge.  The post holder will also be responsible for co-ordinating the MDT working, maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with all team members, and other services within the hospital, to ensure effective interface between disciplines, commissioners, NHS England, the community services and other external agencies.  

It will be an advantage if you have experience of working in a secure service or personality disorder service. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced level CRB and is expected to act as bleep holders (bed managers) at nights and weekends on a rotational basis.
