Cygnet Hospital Wyke treats men who need emergency acute or psychiatric intensive care. Our multi-disciplinary team works to create a pathway from referral to discharge. There is also a specialist ward for treating older service users who have complex mental and physical needs, such as Huntingdon’s, physical frailty, terminal illness, diabetes and cardiac problems.

Cygnet supports and guides all its workers through a clear induction programme. As a member of staff you will receive supervision and access to a mentor. Eligible staff will be able to join the apprenticeship scheme while newly qualified nurses will have the opportunity to apply for the Preceptorship Programme. At Wyke, the calm environment of our acute and intensive care wards welcome men with acute mental health needs and our dedicated, multidisciplinary teams work with the individual to create a seamless route from referral to discharge. 

Branwell Ward is an open acute service that can support up to 19 men in a therapeutic and calming setting. The service is an emergency admission ward that aims to work with service users with a broad range of mental health problems. The team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their family and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.
