Pay and reward
At Cygnet we strive to ensure our pay is competitive in the marketplace. Also, we believe that our staff should be rewarded for performance and contribution as well as qualifications and experience.
You will receive a competitive and guaranteed base salary which you will have the opportunity to supplement through
At Cygnet we take into consideration that our staff have busy lives which is why we offer flexible working patterns. Please discuss how we can help you create a workable solution with our hospital managers.
Cygnet Maternity and Paternity benefits
At this special time Cygnet staff can be assured they are receiving a full programme of support. As well as statutory maternity pay and benefits, Cygnet provides the equivalent of 12 weeks at full pay. We provide Paternity Pay, at statutory levels, for the supporting parent.
You can also benefit from extra support from our Employee Assistance Programme. This aims to ensure you are receiving the benefits to which you are entitled during this time. Once you are ready to return to work it will help you find appropriate childcare and outline your options regarding flexible working.
Birthday and Anniversary Leave
In addition to your basic Annual Leave and Bank Holidays, all employees are entitled to an extra day off every year on their birthday and on the anniversary of their Cygnet start date.
Health and wellbeing
At Cygnet we care about our employees. We provide a programme of monthly supervision and support to ensure our ward staff feel they are able to cope with their workload.
Cygnet employees are also given the option of signing up to a free package of health care support which includes optical and dental cover, in-patient cover and access to a Best Doctors service. Also, our Occupational Health Care Providers give staff access to a free annual health check.
We offer a comprehensive support package for Cygnet staff who have health-related issues. The Employee Assistance Programme provides advice, help and counselling. If a member of staff is absent through sickness over a long period, where appropriate, Cygnet will work alongside Occupational Health and the Rehabilitation Service to help with the return to work where possible. Cygnet also provides additional sick pay for up to ten days. Thereafter it is awarded on a discretionary basis.
Generous Company Pension Scheme
Currently, we offer a defined contribution scheme to which permanent employees, who’ve successfully completed probation, can contribute. The minimum employee contribution required is 2% of annual salary, this attracts an employer contribution of 4%. After a year there is the opportunity to increase your contribution to 3% which will result in a rise of 6% in company contributions.
The scheme is administered by Friends Life, formerly Friends Provident. Policy holders are able to manage their own pension funds online. Additional Voluntary Contributions are possible and members have a wide choice of funds from which to choose, with varying risk profiles and management charges. As this is a personal scheme you have the option of transferring the funds to another provider at a later date.
Group Life Assurance Scheme
Cygnet has a Group Life Assurance Scheme which is underwritten by Legal and General. This provides a cash sum in the event of your death while in our service prior to the age of 65.
Cygnet believes employees should share in the company’s success. We provide a bonus scheme for all employees at different levels. The size of the bonus depends on how well the unit has met its targets for the year and, in some cases, whether personal objectives have been achieved.
This scheme allows employees to save tax and National Insurance payments on their child’s nursery fees. The employee takes a contractual reduction in their gross salary up to a maximum of £55 per week, the child’s nursery fees are then paid monthly, by Cygnet, directly to the nursery. This enables you to make considerable savings in your childcare budget.
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
Cygnet provides staff support through a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). The EAP offers legal, financial and practical information, as well as confidential counselling. It is open to all permanent staff at Cygnet and their partners or family members. It is free to access and operates every day of the year.
Savings centre via EAP
Cygnet provides a savings centre via EAP with offers, discounts and cash-back via WOW points on travel, utilities, everyday essentials, fashion and technology. It also finds deals available locally on leisure activities – great for a day out.
Recruitment Reward Scheme
Employees (excluding management) who recruit a friend to the company are entitled to a bonus payment of:
- £250 for recruiting a health care worker or nursing assistant
- £1,000 for recruiting RMN, RGN or Ward Doctor
This will be payable after a qualifying period.
If you are on duty over the lunch-hour, you will receive subsidised meals in all our hospitals and nursing homes.
All Cygnet hospitals provide free parking for staff during working hours.
Cycle to Work Scheme
Cygnet participates in the Government’s Cycle to Work scheme. We loan bicycles and safety equipment to staff as a tax-free benefit for journeys between home and your Cygnet hospital.
